
Rapidz Defeated by Pride

(OTTAWA, ON) June 5, 2008 - In the final game of their three-game series against the Nashua Pride, the Ottawa Rapidz were defeated 2-0 which completed the series sweep for Nashua, in front of 3,165 enthusiastic fans.
Fans at Rapidz Stadium witnessed great pitching for a third day in a row as Noel Baca III (0-1) for the Rapidz pitched 6 innings, allowing just 1 run, 0 earned runs, 3 strikeouts, 2 walks, with just 2 hits. The winning pitcher for Nashua was Nicolas Suero (1-2) who allowed no runs, no walks, struck out 1 in 8.1 innings of work. Andrew Weimer picked up his fourth save for Nashua in the win, saving all three games in this series.
Nashua began the scoring in the top of the sixth. Sandy Almonte earned a walk for Nashua and Argenis Tavarez hit a single to put two runners on the bases. Ismael Castro then hit a grounder which fooled Felix Escalona at shortstop, resulting in Almonte scoring for Nashua to take a 1-0 lead.
The Pride completed the scoring in the top of the eighth inning. Argenis Tavarez walked with one out, was advanced to third after a single by Ismael Castro who was thrown out 7-6-4-3 by some stellar Rapidz defence. This completed the scoring for the game, with Nashua coming out on top 2-0.
The Rapidz open their second three-game series in this homestand Friday, June 6 at 7:05pm against the Worcester Tornadoes. North Gower's Fraser Robinson (0-0) will take the mound for the Rapidz. His opponent will be Matt Weagle (3-0).
