(Ottawa, ON, June 5, 2008) Nashua Pride starting pitcher Nicolas Suero stymied the Ottawa Rapidz, 2-0, earning improving to 1-2 on the season, lasting seven and one-third shut-out innings, allowing five hits, no walks, and picking up one strike out for the win.

The Pride scored the first, and game winning run, in the top of the sixth inning when shortstop Sandy Almonte came home from third base after Ottawa's Felix Escalona allowed a ground ball to sneak through his legs at shortstop. Dennis Abreu added an insurance run in the top of the eighth, scoring Aregenis Tavarez from third base with his sixth double of the season.

Suero combined with relievers Adam Piechowski and Andrew Weimer to hold the Rapidz scoreless for the second time in the series. Piechowski entered the game for Suero in the eighth inning, recording the final two outs in the frame. Weimer sealed his fourth save of the season in ninth, his third in consecutive games versus Ottawa.

Nashua take a three game winning streak to Quebec, QC, to face the first place Capitales. The Pride will send Nashua native Reid Willett to the mound for the opener at 7:05pm on Friday.

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, entering its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions will be participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
