2.) US U-20'S TO FACE IVORY COAST TODAY IN FIFA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
The U.S.A. U-20's team has its sights on a spot in the quarterfinals as it gets set to face Ivory Coast today. In its crucial third match of group play on Friday night, the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team defeated South Korea 2-0 at the FIFA World Youth Championship in Abu Dhabi to finish first in Group F and move onto the Round of 16. Dallas' Ed Johnson provided both goals to give the U.S. a two-goal edge in the first half and the team kept that margin the rest of the way. The U.S. will face Ivory Coast, second place finisher in Group E, in the Round of 16 today at 9 p.m. at Al-Maktourn Stadium in Dubai. 3.) SPENCER, BORCHERS, HENDERSON UP FOR SPORTS FAN CHOICE AWARDS
Next Monday, Dec. 15, the Brown Palace will host the 2nd Annual "Denver Sports Fans Choice Awards", an annual event that gives awards to Denver's pro athletes based on voting by Denverâs sports fans. Three Rapids players are nominated for awards this year, and they are:
-John Spencer (Denver's Most Valuable Player Award category)
-Nat Borchers (Denver's Rising Star Award category)
-Chris Henderson (Denver's Humanitarian Award category)
Don't have a ticket to Monday's gala? Not to worry; the entire awards show will be broadcast on WB2 on Saturday, December 27th at 8:00pm! Tune in to watch the Spencer, Borchers and Henderson vie against athletes from the Av's, Nuggets, Broncos and Rockies for the awards!
4.) RAPIDS TO HOST ANNUAL XMAS PARTY FOR NEEDY KIDS NEXT TUESDAY
The Rapids announced that they will once again be hosting the team's annual Holiday party for needy Denver kids at Colorado's Ocean Journey. This year's 4th Annual Event will take place on Tuesday, December 16th, and will benefit 350-400 underprivileged kids who participated in the Rapids "Kicks for Kids" program this year.
The Rapids Holiday Party will include free admittance for all the invitees to Ocean Journey and all of its exhibits, a hot meal and beverages, free presents and Rapids gear, a visit from Santa Claus, and a special autograph session with the Colorado Rapids players, coaches and Rapidman!
The Colorado Rapids "Kicks for Kids" program provides underprivileged kids with the opportunity to attend Rapids games and holiday parties throughout the year for free courtesy of corporate donations. This 4th Annual Holiday Party will benefit around 400 underprivileged kids from special-needs schools and organizations around Colorado who participated in the 2003 Kicks for Kids program.

6.) MLS PLAYER COMBINE TO TAKE PLACE JAN. 11-13
Many of the top college and Project-40 prospects for the 2004 SuperDraft will first gather for the 2004 adidas MLS Player Combine from Sunday, Jan. 11 to Tuesday, Jan. 13 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California. MLS general managers and members of all 10 coaching staffs will be in attendance to scout talent at the event leading up to the 2004 SuperDraft, which will be held on Friday, January 16 at the Charlotte Convention Center (10:00 a.m. ET â 2:00 p.m. ET). For the second consecutive year the SuperDraft will be held in conjunction with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention, one of the largest annual soccer gatherings in the United States.
