
Rapids Sign 2000 A-League Goalkeeper of the Year Scott Vallow

DENVER, CO (02-28-03)- The Colorado Rapids announced today the signing of the 2000 A-League Goalkeeper of the Year, Scott Vallow. The 6-3 goalkeeper was drafted by the team in the 2003 Supplemental Draft that took place today at 1:00 PM (MT) via conference call.
Vallow was originally assigned to the Dallas Burn on August 11, 1999 after signing a contract with the Project-40 program of Major League Soccer. He became a free agent and was signed by the Rhinos in February 2000, the same year that he led the team to its 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Thunder in the A-League championship match.
He was re-signed by the Burn on August 6th, 2002 to back up Matt Jordan in Dallas' goal and was waived by the team at the end of the season.
The Rapids also announced the waiving of midfielder Jason Cole. The 22-year old player was originally drafted by the team in the third round (27 overall) of the 2003 SuperDraft.
