
Rapids Select Two in 2006 MLS SuperDraft

DENVER, CO (Friday, January 20, 2006)- The Colorado Rapids added two players to their 2006 roster in today's 2006 Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
With the teams' first pick of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, (Second Round, ninth pick, 29th overall), the Rapids selected forward Jacob Peterson from Indiana University.
Peterson, a semi-finalist for the Hermann Trophy award, which is presented annually to the nation's top college soccer player, was a standout member of the United States Under-20 and Under-17 National teams. His participation at the international level includes four games in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.
With the team's second pick of the event, the Black and Blue selected defender Josh Brown from the University of New Mexico.
Brown, a 6-2 defender who transferred to the University of New Mexico in 2005 played for the Boulder Rapids Reserve of the PDL last season. He became a regular player in the practice scrimmages between his team and the Black and Blue at the Rapids training facility.
Both players are expected to report to the Rapids 2006 preseason on February 1st in Colorado.
