Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, June 12, 2012) - The Colorado Rapids announced on Tuesday that the club has re-signed Drew Moor, a standout defender and member of Rapids' 2010 MLS Cup-winning team, to a multi-year contract. Per league and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Drew has been a critical piece of our squad since he joined us in 2009, and was essential to our MLS Cup run in 2010," said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. "His talent, intelligence, and leadership have made him an important member of the club, both on and off the field, and we're thrilled to have him with us for years ahead."
"I'm excited to sign a new contract with the Rapids," said Moor. "Over the last three years, Colorado has become my home and I have developed a great relationship with all the fans who come out to Dick's Sporting Goods Park. I'm happy to stay with the Rapids and continue helping the team to future success."
Moor, 28, has played 83 regular season games (all starts) since joining the team in a trade with FC Dallas on August 31, 2009, scoring seven goals, including two so far in 2012. On August 27, 2011, he set an MLS record for non-goalkeepers by playing the full 90 minutes in 69 straight regular season matches, a total of 6,210 minutes of consecutive action. In 2010, Moor became only the third field player in MLS history to play every minute of every possible MLS game, both regular season and playoffs, as he earned Rapids Defender of the Year honors and helped the club to their first ever MLS Cup.
Before joining the Rapids, Moor played five seasons with FC Dallas, playing 123 games (111 starts), scoring eight goals and adding two assists. In 2007, Moor made his international debut with the United States National Team, playing 90 minutes against Paraguay in the Copa America on July 2. He has made five total appearances with the National Team, and registered an assist against Mexico in a friendly on February 6, 2008.
The Colorado Rapids will visit the Vancouver Whitecaps this Saturday, June 16 before returning home on Wednesday, June 20 to take on the San Jose Earthquakes at 7:30 p.m. MT at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
