Rapids Drop Game vs. Tapatio

Monday, March 24: The Colorado Rapids today dropped their second straight preseason game against Mexican Second Division side Tapatio 2-0 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The loss was the first time this Spring that the Black & Blue have been defeated in consecutive games, and the loss brings the Rapids' record to 7-3-1 in preseason play. RAPIDS WEEK FOCUS: RAPIDS SOCCER CLINIC PRESENTED BY DAVE & BUSTER'S

The Colorado Rapids have announced a week-long series of events leading up to the Rapids Home Opener on April 12! From April 5-April 11, the Rapids will be hosting different events all over town in celebration of the start of the 2003 MLS season! Today's Focus: Rapids Kickoff Soccer Clinic, Presented by Dave & Buster's: In anticipation of the 2003 season, Rapids players are spreading their enthusiasm and knowledge to the younger fans of the game. On Tuesday April 8, at the Westminster Rapids Training Center, local children ages 5-15 will get the opportunity to attend a 2-hour (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM) soccer clinic run by Rapids coaches and players! RAPIDS STADIUM CHANT CONTEST

Fans, the Rapids have created a new contest, just for you, our most passionate supporters! Here's your chance to become famous, help improve the game atmosphere at INVESCO Field at Mile High and also get the chance to win a brand-new Rapids 2003 Black & Blue home jersey, personalized with your favorite player's name and number!

The Rapids are looking for soccer chants that we can hand out to fans at the stadium and display on the scoreboard to elicit some vocal support for the team at all home games. Here's how it works: email us an original chant of your own making, no longer than 4 verses, along with a well-recognized tune that it will be sung along to.

The Rapids will select the best entries and reward the fans who sent them in with a personalized home Rapids jersey of their favorite player! Send your name, phone number and your chant and its accompanying tune via email to Rapids@mlsnet.com and stay tuned to RapidFire to find out if you've won! We will announce the winners the week before the Rapids Home Opener on April 12.

MASTROENI CALLED INTO TEAM USA FOR SATURDAY'S GAME

The United States National Team Head Coach Bruce Arena announced that Colorado Rapids midfielder Pablo Mastroeni was selected to join the 18-man roster for the international friendly against Venezuela in Seattle, WA on March 29. The game will be televised live on ESPN2 at 2:00 p.m. MT. Venezuela is filling in for Japan, the US's formerly-scheduled opponent, who just recently canceled their US trip. RAPIDS ANNOUNCE EXHIBITION GAME VS. SCHOOL OF MINES

The Colorado Rapids announced plans to play an exhibition game against the Colorado School of Mines men's soccer team on Tuesday, April 1, at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played on the School of Mines Campus at Brooks Field in Golden, CO. The match will give Rapids fans their first opportunity to see the Black & Blue in action, and their first chance to see the Rapids players up close and personal before "Rapids Week" begins on Saturday April 5 with the ‘Dusk to Dawn 4 v 4 Soccer Tournament' at INVESCO Field at Mile High.
