Colorado Rapids News Release
SANDY, Utah. (Saturday, July 21, 2012) - The Colorado Rapids fell 2-0 on Saturday night to Major League Soccer archrivals Real Salt Lake, who won their sixth straight Subaru Rocky Mountain Cup victory in the process. Salt Lake's Alvaro SaborÃ-o struck first in the 32nd minute, and Will Johnson netted the second in the 90th to seal the victory.
The Rapids showed promise in the attacking third with several chances at goal in the second half, including a close range one-touch shot from Cummings that went barely high of the crossbar in the 76th minute, but none were successful. The loss brings Colorado to five straight in the month of July, the club's busiest month of the season. Their next contest is against English Premier League side Swansea City A.F.C. at home on Tuesday, July 24 before returning to regular season action on July 28 against Seattle Sounders FC at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
