March 5, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Colorado Rapids defender Anthony Wallace suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his left leg during practice on Sunday, and is expected to miss 6-9 months. Surgery has been scheduled for Thursday at Advanced Orthopedics in Denver under the supervision of Rapids Team Doctor Wayne Gersoff MD.
Wallace has only recently recovered from microfracture surgery in his right knee, and was beginning to reintegrate into soccer-specific drills during practice before his Achilles injury. The 23-year-old defender joined FC Dallas in 2007, making 15 appearances (11 starts) before joining the Rapids in a 2010 trade. He has played 17 regular season games (15 starts) with Colorado, as well as starting all four playoff games in 2010 as the club captured its first MLS Cup.
The Rapids open the 2012 regular season this Saturday, March 10 against the Columbus Crew at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, with several fan events during "Rapids Week 2012" leading up to First Kick.
