History of the Quakes - New England Revolution Rivalry
The Earthquakes are unbeaten over the past two seasons against the New England Revolution, posting a 3-0-1 record which includes a 2011 season sweep ... The Quakes last lost to the Revolution, 2-1, at Gillette Stadium on Aug. 29, 2009, with their last home defeat to New England coming in the 2009 season opener at Buck Shaw Stadium, 1-0, on March 21 ... The Quakes have won two straight at Buck Shaw over the Revs, 2-0 on April 17, 2010, and 2-1 last May 21 ... San Jose and New England are meeting to open the MLS season for the third time, with the sides playing to a 2-2 draw at Spartan Stadium on April 2, 2005, prior to the 2009 opener ... The Quakes are 19-11-5 all-time against the Revs in regular-season games, and dominated the series from 2001-05 ... Most recently, Wondolowski replaced Feilhaber in the 62nd minute of a 1-0 win over Venezuela in Glendale, Ariz., on Jan. 21, 2012 ... The Quakes signed Colombian midfielder Tressor Moreno this offseason, while the Revs brought in a trio of Colombian nationals in Fernando Cardenas, John Lozano and Jose Moreno ... The two Morenos played together briefly for America de Cali in Colombia in 2002-03 ... New England midfielder Stephen McCarthy spent the first four years (2006-09) of his college career with Santa Clara at Buck Shaw Stadium prior to transferring to North Carolina for his redshirt senior season in 2010 ... Chris Wondolowski has collected three goals and one assist in seven career matches (five with SJ) against New England, all of them coming in a Quakes uniform over the past two seasons ... Ellis McLoughlin and Ike Opara each have one goal in two appearances ... McLoughlin recorded his first career goal against New England to open the scoring in a 2-1 Quakes win at Buck Shaw last May 21 ... Steven Lenhart scored against the Revs as a member of the Columbus Crew in 2010 ... Quakes newcomer Marvin Chávez has one goal in three games against the Revs as an FC Dallas player, coming as the lone goal (69th minute) in a 1-0 home win on June 4, 2011 ... Goalkeeper Jon Busch is 8-3-5 against New England and has five shutouts in 17 career appearances ... The only one of those games as a member of the Quakes was the 2-1 home win over the Revs last May 21, when he made two saves ... Midfielder Shalrie Joseph, New England's leading scorer in 2011 with eight goals, has tallied two assists in 12 career appearances against San Jose ... Chris Tierney has one goal in six appearances, tallying the lone Revs goal in last year's 2-1 loss in Santa Clara on May 21 ... Midfielder Benny Feilhaber has one goal in two meetings, having scored the only Revs goal in their 2-1 home loss a year ago on Oct. 8 ... Goalkeeper Matt Reis is 4-6-2 with two shutouts in his career against San Jose, including 3-4-2 with the two clean sheets while with the Revs.

What: Kicking off the spring session of Get Earthquakes Fit presented by Kaiser Permanente

Details: Get Earthquakes Fit presented by Kaiser Permanente is a free, five-week health and fitness program designed to easily increase physical activity for third and fourth grade students. The program opens and closes with an assembly and each week, teachers will play a video featuring Quakes players designed to create excitement for the activities. At the end of five weeks, the San Jose Earthquakes and Kaiser Permanente will hold a celebratory assembly for the students, including a special appearance made by a Quakes player.
Autograph Signing at Frost/Indigo Book Swap
Who: Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski
What: Wondolowski will be signing autographs for students from Frost and Indigo at their annual book swap to help promote literacy and a love of reading for elementary school students.
When: Friday, March 9, at 2 p.m.

Details: Wondolowski will be participating in the 2012 Frost/Indigo Book Swap and signing autographs for 200 elementary school students.

MLS First Kick 2012
The MLS season opens on Saturday, March 10 with five matches, including a nightcap featuring the San Jose Earthquakes and New England Revolution at Buck Shaw Stadium (7:30 p.m. PT, Comcast SportsNet California). The action starts with Montreal at Vancouver and Columbus at Colorado at 3 p.m. followed by Sporting Kansas City at D.C. United at 4:30 p.m. Joining San Jose in the 7:30 p.m. timeslot is another Western Conference duel, Real Salt Lake at the LA Galaxy.

Earthquakes Rout Chivas USA 5-0 in Preseason Finale
Five different San Jose Earthquakes players found the net in a 5-0 win to close out the preseason against Chivas USA at Portland's JELD-WEN Field on Sunday, March 4. Chris Wondolowski opened the scoring in the 27th minute off an assist from Shea Salinas, producing his team-leading fourth goal of the preseason. The Quakes then exploded for four in the second half, as Justin Morrow (52nd, assisted by Ramiro Corrales and Marvin Chavez), Tressor Moreno (80, Corrales), Sercan Guvenisik (84, Moreno) and top draft pick Sam Garza (88, Guvenisik) each getting on the scoresheet for the first time during the team's 2012 lead-up.
Quakes Play to Scoreless Draw With Sweden's AIK
On March 1, the Earthquakes and AIK of Stockholm, Sweden, and its top-tier Allsvenskan, played to a 0-0 draw at Portland's JELD-WEN Field. The Quakes were forced to play the final 30 minutes with 10 men following a red-card ejection. David Bingham and Evan Newton combined on the shutout in goal.
Wondo Looks to Continue Career-Best Scoring Streak
From Sept. 24 to Oct. 22 of last year, San Jose forward Chris Wondolowski scored in the Quakes' last five matches of the 2011 campaign, with six strikes in all during that time period. The five-game goal-scoring stretch tied Landon Donovan of the LA Galaxy for the longest in MLS in 2011, and is the longest active streak heading into 2012. It is also the longest such run of Wondolowski's MLS career.
Following Go-Ahead on N ew Stadium, Two Suites Remain
The San Jose Earthquakes have already sold 10 of 12 available field-level luxury suites for its new stadium, generating over $3.5 million in revenue for the project. The San Jose Planning Commission voted 6-0 to uphold the Earthquakes' Planned Development Permit on Feb. 22, paving the way for the club to break ground on its new stadium at 1125 Coleman Avenue.
Quakes Unveil Full Set of Kits for 2012
The Earthquakes have unveiled their full set of kits for the 2012 season, including colors for the shorts and socks accompanying their jersey tops. The first-choice kit features a black top with blue trim, black shorts with blue trim and black socks with white hoops. The new No. 2 kit includes a blue top with black trim, blue shorts with black trim and blue socks with white hoops. The club's third kit features a white top with black and blue trim, white shorts with black and blue trim and white socks with black hoops. Opara Captains U.S. U-23s to 2-0 Win Over Mexico
Earthquakes defender Ike Opara captained the side and played all 90 minutes as the U.S. U-23s blanked Mexico on Feb. 29, 2-0, at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Opara was in camp with the U.S. from Feb. 19-29, as head coach Caleb Porter works to finalize a roster ahead of CONCACAF Olympic qualifying later this month. The U.S. goals came in quick succession late in the first half, as Juan Agudelo headed in a near-post corner kick from Mix Diskerud in the 35th minute, just before a low, long-range, left-footed strike from Freddy Adu deflected off of Diskerud, eluded Mexican goalkeeper Liborio Sanchez and found the near corner a mere minute later. The goal was officially credited to Diskerud.
Earthquakes Announce Radio Partners for 2012
The San Jose Earthquakes announced their English and Spanish-language radio broadcast partners for the 2012 season last week. KZSF 1370 AM "La Kaliente" will cover all 34 Quakes games in Spanish for the second straight season. On the English side, KLIV returns as the broadcast partner for the first time since 2005, having carried Quakes matches in both 2004 and 2005. Combined with television, San Jose will now have all games on television, English radio and Spanish radio for the first time in team history. Anthony Passarelli will serve as the primary play-by-play commentator on KLIV, while Carlos Cesar Rivera is back for his fifth consecutive season as the Spanish voice of the Quakes, and his eighth overall.
Quakes Sign Supplemental Pick Diaz Pizarro
San Jose announced last week that the club signed its top selection from the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft, forward Cesar Diaz Pizarro. Diaz Pizarro, chosen No. 25 overall in the second round on Jan. 17, starred for four years at UC Riverside, drawing 53 starts among 74 appearances. The native of Chiclayo, Peru, who grew up in Chino, Calif., produced 20 goals as a Highlander, with eight of them game-winners. Named the 2011 Big West Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year as a senior, he left the program No. 1 on the all-time chart in games played and game-winning goals, and No. 2 in points and goals scored.
Earthquakes to Play Dynamo at AT&T Park on March 17
The Quakes will host the Houston Dynamo at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Saturday, March 17, as part of a doubleheader with Olympic hopefuls from Mexico and Senegal. The Earthquakes open the twin bill by taking on 2011 MLS Cup finalist Houston at 2 p.m., with Mexico taking on Senegal at 4:30 p.m. in a final tune-up before Olympic qualifying. Earthquakes 2012 Preseason Results
The Earthquakes wrapped up the third and final out-of-town segment of 2012 preseason training camp over the w eekend in Portland, Ore., where they participated in a four-team round-robin tournament at JELD-WEN Field. With all three games being streamed live on-line to fans, San Jose completed the tournament with an unbeaten 1-0-2 record. The Earthquakes went 3-1-4 overall during their preseason. Chris Wondolowski led the squad with four goals over his five appearances, and newcomer Marvin Chavez provided four assists in his seven matches, three of them from corner kicks. Ramiro Corrales also assisted on four scores. Khari Stephenson and newcomers Sercan Guvenisik and Tressor Moreno each provided one goal and one assist, while Shea Salinas had two assists. Earthquakes Youth Academy Update
Academy U-18s and U16s Fall in Canada
The Earthquakes U-18s and U16s each suffered 3-0 defeats to Northwest Division rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Surrey, British Columbia, on March 3. Both academy squads will be idle in the coming weekend, before heading to Southern California for a pair of games on March 17-18.
