
Rapids Acquire Rights to Goalkeeper Zach Thornton From Chicago Fire

Denver, Colorado (Thursday, March 1, 2007) - The Colorado Rapids today acquired the rights to goalkeeper Zach Thornton from the Chicago Fire in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft.
Thornton joined Chicago for the second time in 2004 after playing for Benfica in Portugal in 2004. The Loyola University (Maryland) product led the Fire to the MLS Cup Championship in 1998, the year he was named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. He spent the first two years of his career with the MetroStars in 1996 and 97.
