Rapid City Wins CHL Record 11th Straight on Road

GLENDALE, AZ - The Rapid City Rush set the Central Hockey League record for consecutive road wins on Saturday night earning their 11th straight victory away from home. The Rush earned a 6-5 victory over the Denver Cutthroats in the Denver Coliseum and now sit at 20-3-0 on the season and 11-0-0 on the road.
The Rush break the record held previously by four teams with the most recent being the Odessa Jackalopes in 2001-02 season. Others with 10 straight road wins were the 1997-98 Columbus Cottonmouths, the 1997-98 Nashville Ice Flyers and the 1996-97 Fort Worth Fire.
The Rush have had a special first half of the season becoming the first CHL team to win 20 of their first 23 games to go along with a CHL record-tying 10 straight wins to open the season.
The score on Saturday night was tied at three after two periods but the visiting Rush put the pedal down in the third period with goals from Winston Day Chief and Konrad Reeder in the first 2:38 of the final frame. Denver would fight back to tie the score before Jesse Schultz scored the game winning goal at the 12:32 mark.
The Rush are off until Thursday night when they battle the second place Missouri Mavericks in the first of three straight games in South Dakota between the two clubs.
