
Rangers Ready to Participate in Firefighter Combat Challenge

In preparation for National Fire Prevention Week, the Kitchener Rangers are headed to the Waterloo Region Emergency Services Training & Research Complex to participate in a full scale Fire Fighter Combat Challenge demonstration on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.
Are the Rangers up to the challenge? Fans are invited come out to cheer on the players as they attempt to successfully complete six tasks:
1. The Stair Climb: The player climbs to the top of a 7-storey tower carrying a 45 pound hose pack, wearing full firefighter gear.
2. The Hose Pull: The player uses a rope to raise a 45 pound roll of fire hose up to the top of the tower, placing it into the designated container.
3. The Forcible Entry: The player uses an 8-pound shot mallet to move a 110 pound steel beam until it crosses the line.
4. The Rescue Run: The player runs 140 feet around a series of hydrants as fast as they can.
5. The Hose Advance: The player drags a fully charged fire hose line 75 feet, opens the nozzle and hits the target with the stream of water.
6. The Victim Rescue: The player drags a 165 pound Rescue Randy mannequin, plus coveralls and boots, backwards for a distance of 100 feet.
