Soo Greyhounds News Release

Soo Greyhounds GM Kyle Dubas announced earlier this afternoon that the club has acquired overage defenseman CHRIS BUONOMO from the Barrie Colts in exchange for a 4th Round selection in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection.

The 4th Round pick comes from a draft year which originally saw the Hounds holding 22 picks in the 15 round event. Following the trade they now hold two 2nds, one 3rd, two 4ths and two 5ths in 2014.

Buonomo, a Sault Ste. Marie, ON product, is in his 5th season with the Colts. One year ago (2011-12) Chris ended the regular season with 1 goal and 12 assists to go along with a +6 rating before appearing in 13 post-season games.

The right-shooting defenseman will be called upon to help the Hounds play in their own zone while allowing the younger players on the roster to progress at the right pace.

Buonomo and the Hounds return to OHL action this week with a trio of home games; Wednesday, October 3rd vs Saginaw, Friday, October 5th vs Kitchener and Saturday, October 6th vs Sarnia. All games are set for 7:07 p.m. at the Essar Centre.
