KITCHENER, Ont. - Nick Spaling registered a hat trick to lead the Kitchener Rangers to an 8-3 win over the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 5,962 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.

Steve Downie added two goals and two assists for the winners while Mike Duco also scored twice. Justin Azevedo rounded out the scoring as the Rangers improved to 35-14-1-2 with the win.

Zack Torquato had two goals and an assist for the Otters. Stanislav Polodna netted the other Erie goal as the Otters dropped to 13-37-1-2 on the season.

The Rangers led 2-0 after one and 5-0 heading into the third.

Kitchener out shot Erie 50-23 in the game as Kevin Beech took the loss.

The three stars of the game were all from the Rangers. Downie was the first, Spaling the second and defenseman Yannick Weber (two assists) the third.

The next Otters home game takes place tomorrow (Saturday) when the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds visit the Tullio Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start presented by McDonald's and WSEE. Sunday the Otters welcome the London Knights to the Tullio Arena in a special 6 p.m.
