Hamilton, ON: The Kitchener Rangers (30-29-3-1) headed south to the First Ontario Centre to play the Hamilton Bulldogs (28-31-3-2) on Wednesday night and despite the Rangers heavily outshooting the Bulldogs, 37-23, the game ended 5-3 in favour of the black and gold.

Riley Damiani scored two goals for the Rangers and Joseph Garreffa extended his points-streak to 10 games. Luke Richardson stopped 18 in the loss.

The first official action on the scoresheet was a delay of game penalty to Donovan Sebrango at 8:25 of the first period. 26 seconds into the Bulldogs powerplay, Matthew Strome netted his 28th goal of the season past Luke Richardson to make it 1-0 for the home team.

The Bulldogs added an insurance goal when a Rangers defender made a turnover deep in their defensive-end that was picked up by Strome and passed to Jan Jenik on Richardson's left-side and the Czech native wristed it into the back of the net to make it 2-0 at 10:34.

The Rangers found some momentum to close out the first period, but they couldn't find a way to beat netminder Zachary Roy.

Kitchener outshot Hamilton after 20 minutes, 12-7.

The Bulldogs extended their lead at 10:47 of the second period when a pass from Payton Vescio went to Liam Van Loon who fired a shot from just above the hash marks and into the net to make it 3-0.

At 13:34, the Rangers broke the goose egg when Jonathan Yantsis, skating into the offensive zone, found Mike Petizian alone on the far side of the ice and Petizian took a low shot that beat Roy to score his fifth of the season and make the score 3-1.

Josh Wainman of the Bulldogs took a delay of game penalty at 15:08 to give the visitors their first powerplay of the night.

On the ensuing powerplay, Riley Damiani danced around a Bulldogs defender and slid the puck between the five-hole of Roy to bring the Rangers within one, 3-2.

Kitchener took three penalties at 18:39-a fighting major for Cole Cameron, unsportsmanlike conduct for Rickard Hugg, and 10-minute misconduct by Michael Vukojevic-while the Bulldogs' Strome took a fighting major, which gave the home team a 5-on-3.

On the two-man-advantage, Logan Morrison, from just in front of the red line on Richardson's right-side, found a way to fire the puck past the netminder and give Hamilton a 4-2 lead heading into the second intermission.

Shots on goal still favoured the Rangers, 25-14.

At 15:10 of the third period, Yantsis found Damiani unmarked in front of the net and Damiani buried his second of the night to bring the Rangers within one, again, 4-3.

With just under two minutes left in the game, Richardson was pulled from the net and almost immediately after, Isaac Nurse got himself past the Rangers defenders and scored on the empty net to make it 5-3.

After 60 minutes, the Rangers outshot the Bulldogs 37-23.

The Rangers next home game is on Friday, March 8 at 7:30 pm vs the Erie Otters. The next road game for Kitchener is on Sunday, March 10 at 4:00 pm vs the Guelph Storm.
