
Rangers Hold Off Storm For Win

Kitchener, ON: The Rangers survived a late surge by the Guelph Storm to win this afternoon's Thanksgiving Day game 5-4 before a crowd of 5,568 at The Aud.
The Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period on goals by Andre Benoit (3), Craig Voakes (3) and Mike Duco (2). The Storm responded late in the period on a goal by Ryan Callahan to cut the lead to 3-1 heading into the intermission.
In the second period Michael Richards scored his third on the season and Patrick Davis added his second to make it a 5-1 game. Callahan connected for the Storm on the power play with just one second remaining on the clock.
In the third period the Storm scored twice on goals by Mark Versteeg-Lytywn and Kyle Spurr to trim the Rangers lead to
5-4.
Eric Pfligler picked up the win stopping 33 shots to improve his season record to 2-1-1.
The Rangers next home game is Friday, October 15th vs the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at The Aud.
Game Notes: Evan McGrath picked up 2 assists in the game...Andre Benoit, Craig Voakes and Michael Richards collected a goal and added an assist each...Justin Azevedo chipped in with 2 assists...the Rangers were 3/9 on the power play...the Storm were 1/5 on the power play...the teams combined 44 penalty minutes in the game.
