Rangers' First-Round Pick Cameron Reid Commits to Kitchener

Kitchener, Ont. - The Kitchener Rangers announced today that defenceman Cameron Reid, the Rangers' first-round (10th overall) draft pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, has committed to an Ontario Hockey League standard player agreement and education package with the club.
"We would like to welcome Cam and his family to the Rangers organization," said Kitchener Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie. "We were thrilled he was still available at pick number 10. Cam has all the tools on the ice to develop into an impact player. Off the ice, he is going to bring character and maturity to our young group of players. We look forward to seeing Cam develop in a Ranger uniform."
A proven leader, Reid moved away from home at the age of 14 to play for the Bishop Kearney Selects 14U AAA program in Rochester, N.Y., and was then named the team captain for his 15U AAA year the following season.
"Being drafted is a crazy feeling, but to sign with the Rangers is an even better feeling," said Reid. "I know there are years of work ahead, but I just can't wait to get started."
The five-foot-11, 165-pound left-shot defenceman amassed an impressive 76 points (26G, 50A) in 83 games with Bishop Kearney Selects and totaled 143 points (101G, 99A) in 176 games in his last two seasons.
A native of Aylmer, Ont., Reid will wear number 18 for Kitchener and will be at the Rangers Development Camp this weekend, held this Friday through Sunday at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex.
