FULL GAME REPORT
A cross-checking penalty to Reid Valade at 13:50 led to the first powerplay of the game for the Storm. On the powerplay, a shot by Nate Schnarr led to a rebound off Luke Richardson that went right to a streaking Mackenzie Entwistle who lifted the puck into the roof of the net from up-close to give the Storm the lead at 14:59, 1-0.
As the period was coming to a close, Riley Damiani and Dimitri Samorukov each took roughing penalties that led to four-on-four hockey for twenty-four seconds that'd carry into the second period.
The opening 20 minutes would see the Rangers ahead in shots 12-8.
Guelph opened up their lead at 14:11 when Nick Suzuki fired a puck past a screened Richardson to make it 2-0 for the visitors.
The Rangers got on the scoreboard late in the second period.
Just as an Entwistle penalty expired, Rickard Hugg fired his first goal of the playoffs past Anthony Popovich at 19:02 to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
Joseph Garreffa and Greg Meireles earned assists on the goal.
The second period would end with the Storm ahead in shots 20-17.
At 4:22 of the third period, the Storm restored their two-goal advantage when Pavel Gogolev scored his first of the playoffs to make it 3-1.
Guelph extended their lead when Alexey Toropchenko scored his fourth of the playoffs of an assist from Entwistle when he skated past a Rangers defender around Richardson. It was 4-1 at 13:43.
The Storm's Toropchenko added an empty-net goal at 18:41 to make it 5-1 and seal it for Guelph.
The final shots on goal were 42-27.
