Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - In the first home game of the second half, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (44-32, 3-5) returned to their winning ways with a 10-2 victory over the Lancaster JetHawks (39-37, 5-3).

In game one of the four-game set, Josiah Gray dazzled again as a member of the Rancho rotation, while the bats came alive to snap a lengthy scoreless stretch.

Gray (5-0), notching the win, is now tied for the team-lead in victories, despite his promotion to the Cal League in mid-May. The New Rochelle, NY native spun a magnificent seven innings of one-run baseball, with eight strikeouts and no free-passes.

As for the offense, they came out of an offensive slumber with a five-run bottom of the third, ending a stretch of 22 innings without recording a tally. Devin Mann (16th) and Jeren Kendall (7th) blasted back-to-back solo home runs to kickstart the frame, while Jordan Procyshen (3rd) capped off the explosion with a no-doubt, two-run homer.

To cap off the night, Kendall (8th) headlined a three-run bottom of the eighth, smacking a two-run shot for his first multi-homer game of the campaign.

Not to be overlooked, both Deacon Liput and Niko Hulsizer pieced together three-hit performances. Liput and Hulsizer's six combined hits were apart of Rancho's 13 total hits on Thursday evening.

Garrett Schilling (4-4) suffered his second-straight defeat to Rancho in as many starts, surrendering six runs (five earned) and three home runs.

On Friday, with aspirations of back-to-back wins, the Quakes send RHP Andre Jackson (0-1) to the mound. The JetHawks will call upon LHP Ryan Rolison (2-3) for his 12th start of the season.

Friday night's contest with Lancaster at LoanMart Field is SOLD OUT for Cody Bellinger Bobblehead Giveaway, presented by The Smile Generation. However, if tickets were purchased, make sure to get to the ballpark early, as Belli Bobbleheads will be granted to the first 1,500 fans through the gates.
