Lancaster JetHawks News Release

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - Luis Castro went deep for his league-leading 18th home run of the season, but the JetHawks fell, 10-2, to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Thursday night at LoanMart Field.

The Quakes (3-5, 44-32) jumped ahead with a five-run third inning against starter Garrett Schilling (4-4).

Schilling, who had stranded four runners on the bases through the first two frames, gave up back-to-back homers to Devin Mann and Jeren Kendall to start the third. He later walked a batter and surrendered an RBI-double to Niko Hulsizer before Jordan Prosychen took him deep to put Rancho up, 5-0.

Castro answered with his home run to lead off the top of the fourth. The shot gave him a league-leading 56 RBIs as well.

Schilling, who was 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA over his previous two starts at LoanMart Field, ended up allowing six runs (five earned) over five innings. He struck out six and walked three.

Josiah Gray (5-0) cruised through seven innings outside of the Castro homer. He allowed just the one run on four hits with eight strikeouts and no walks.

Both Ryan Vilade and Sean Bouchard went hitless to end their respective hitting streaks at 13 and nine games.

Lancaster added a late run on a Matt Hearn double in the eighth, but the Quakes responded with three runs against Robert Tyler in the bottom of the eighth. Kendall hit his second home run of the game in that frame.

The series continues on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Ryan Rolison is slated to start for the JetHawks against Andre Jackson.
