San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The Rampage will honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country with their 7th annual Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by Chipotle, this Saturday, Feb. 27. The team will wear specially designed camouflage jerseys when they take on the Manitoba Moose at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
Fans can access the arena through the Southeast entrance starting at 4:30 p.m. for a special pre-game hockey match between the Lackland Air Force Base Men O' War and Austin Centex. Fans can also enjoy various pre-game interactive activities, including:
* Army vehicles for fans to tour * Photo op with Air Force mini jet * Air Force Drum & Bugle Corp. and Army Medical Command Band performances A bald eagle, presented by the Last Chance Forever Bird of Prey Conservancy, will be on the concourse for a rare opportunity for many to see up close.
Last season the Rampage set a franchise record with 10,265 fans in attendance for Military Appreciation Night (Feb. 28, 2009).
The commemorative jerseys worn by the Rampage will be auctioned off following the game at Express-News Headlines. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Operation Comfort and the Rampage Sled Hockey Team. Last year, the Rampage raised $31,000 to benefit San Antonio's military community and have raised more than $100,000 over the last six years.
Members of the Rampage Sled Hockey Team will be recognized during a special pre-game ceremony and will participate in an exhibition game during the first intermission. The sled hockey team is comprised primarily of soldiers who have been injured while serving our country and are receiving therapy and rehabilitation at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and the Center of the Intrepid. The sled hockey team is a joint effort between the Rampage and Operation Comfort. The team is coached by Lonnie Hannah, a member of the U.S. Paralympics Sled Hockey Team that won the bronze medal at the 2006 Games in Torino, Italy, and a gold medal at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City.
Military members can receive a 25 percent discount on tickets purchased at the box office with a valid military ID. Tickets can be purchased at the AT&T Center box office, by calling a Rampage representative at (210) 444-5554, or by visiting the team's Web site at www.sarampage.com.
