Peoria Rivermen News Release

Joey Tenute scored twice in the third period, the final marker into an empty net, as the San Antonio Rampage won 4-1 over the Peoria Rivermen on Tuesday night at Carver Arena.

Tenute scored 2:07 into the third period when he took a one-time feed in the low slot, beating Marek Schwarz over the right shoulder to make it 3-1. Former Rivermen Jon DiSalvatore and Bill Thomas recorded the helpers on the goal.

That marker, coupled with a late empty netter from Tenute, derailed any chance of a Peoria comeback in the contest, one that had been close both on the scoreboard and on the ice.

Peoria opened the scoring in the contest just 10 seconds into its first power play chance. Micki DuPont accepted a Trent Whitfield pass from the right wing and unleashed a shot 20 feet off the right point that beat David LeNeveu through traffic stationed in front of the Rampage goal at 6:22 to make it 1-0 Rivermen.

The Rampage would counter at 13:25 when Chris Durno picked up his own rebound and beat a scrambling Schwarz under the crossbar for his 13th goal of the year.

San Antonio forged a second-period lead late in the frame after a Peoria turnover led to Josh Gratton's shot from the point. Schwarz stopped that drive but the rebound kicked right to Nate DiCasmirro in the left wing circle, and the Rampage forward delivered his seventh marker of the year at 18:36 to make it 2-1 through 40 minutes of play.

The Rivermen will now take back to the road against the Rockford IceHogs tomorrow night at 7:05 pm, with the Rivermen pre-game show with Tom Callahan kicking off at 6:35 pm on your Home for Rivermen Hockey, 96.5 FM ESPN RADIO.
