Rampage Get By Knights, 3-1

San Antonio, TX -The San Antonio Rampage got a goal in each period to beat the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 3-1 on Saturday night at the AT&T Center. The loss extended the Knights' winless streak to eight games.

The Rampage seized the lead just 4:33 into the game. Chris McAllister threw a pass in front of the net that hit the skate of Knights' center Ajay Baines and went right to defenseman David Cornacchia who rammed it past Curtis McElhinney.

San Antonio doubled its lead at 6:25 of the second period when Pascal Rheaume spun out from behind the net and threw a backhander past McElhinney for his 15th goal of the year.

The Knights got a goal back on the powerplay. Just five seconds in, Carsen Germyn rang a slapshot off the crossbar. The rebound jumped back into the slot where Warren Peters rammed it home to make it 2-1. It was his third goal in the last two games.

Peters had a chance to tie the game late when he was taken down on a breakaway and awarded a penalty shot. But goalie Scott Stirling made a smart poke check before Peters could shoot and the Rampage kept their 2-1 lead into the break.

The Knights had three powerplays in the third period, but the only goal that resulted was a shorthanded tally by Randall Gelech.

McElhinney made 23 saves in the loss.

The Knights are now 34-31-3-11. They finish their inaugural season against the Rampage on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. The game can be heard on 1420 KOTK and on the internet at omahaaksarbenknights.com. The game can be seen on-line using the link to B2 Networks on the Knights' home page.
