ROSEMONT, Ill. (April 25, 2011) - Michael Caruso tallied the San Antonio Rampage's lone goal in their 3-1 defeat to the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Rampage's Western Conference Quarterfinal series was knotted at 2-2.
Caruso scored 43 seconds into the first period to give San Antonio a 1-0 advantage. He picked up his first goal of the playoffs on a point shot that found its way past screened Chicago goaltender Eddie Lack. With an assist on the play, Jon Matsumoto picked up his eighth point of the postseason and became the Rampage's all-time leading playoff scorer.
Chicago tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal from former Rampage player Steve Reinprecht at the 17:53 mark of the second period. He redirected a Nolan Baumgartner feed past Rampage backstop Dov Grumet-Morris for his first goal of the series.
Reinprecht struck for his second goal of the contest 12 minutes into the third period to put Chicago ahead 2-1. He skated down the left side of the ice and beat Grumet-Morris over his right shoulder for the score.
The Wolves' Tim Miller added an empty-net goal with 29 seconds remaining in the contest to cap the scoring at 3-1 in favor of Chicago.
Lack made 30 saves on 31 Rampage shots while Grumet-Morris posted 12 saves on 14 Wolves attempts.
The Rampage and Wolves will square off in a decisive Game 5 at 7:30 p.m. (CST) on Friday at Allstate Arena.
