Rampage defeat Iowa, 2-1

SAN ANTONIO - After enduring a tough overtime loss on Saturday to the Iowa Stars the San Antonio Rampage rebounded to post a 2-1 win over the Stars at the AT&T Center on Sunday night. Forward Joel Perrault registered the game winning goal in the third period to up the Rampage's record to 14-8-2-3 and move them within two points of first place in the AHL West Division.

Rampage forward Chris Durno scored the only goal of the first period tallying shorthanded at 9:50 when he banked a shot off Iowa goalie Tobias Stephan from the left goal line. It was the Rampage's eighth shorty of the season, tying them for the AHL lead. Four of their eight shorthanded goals have come against the Stars.

Neither team scored in the second period and for the second straight night the Rampage would take a one goal lead to the third period over the Iowa Stars.

Early in the third Stars' defenseman Chris Lee unleashed a one timer from the right point that deflected by Rampage goalie David LeNeveu just fifty seconds into the period to tie the game at 1-1. Five minutes later the Rampage would retake the lead 2-1 as Perrault would convert a centering feed from forward Enver Lisin for his 13th of the season. San Antonio held Iowa off down the stretch to seal the victory. FINAL SCORE San Antonio 2, Iowa 1.

LeNeveu made 27 saves in 60 minutes of work to even his record at 3-3-3. Stephan gave up two goals on 30 shots in 58:05 and fell to 8-6-0. The Rampage were 0-5 on the power play while Iowa was 1-5. San Antonio outshot the Stars 30-28.

The Rampage continue their season high 11-game home stand, 3-2-1-0 so far, when they host Quad City on Wednesday at the AT&T Center. It is the first College Night of the season.
