San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 19, 2016) - The San Antonio Rampage (8-9-0-0) completed their two-game sweep of the Charlotte Checkers (7-6-1-0) 2-1 Saturday night at the AT&T Center.
San Antonio landed the first goal of the evening when defenseman Sam Jardine connected on a blast from the point at the 8:04 mark. Mike Sislo registered the lone assist on the play en route to his 100th professional assist.
The Rampage extended their lead early in the second period when Rocco Grimaldi recorded his sixth goal of the season with assists from Cody Corbett and Troy Bourke. Grimladi's tally in the second minute gave the Rampage leading scorer his first goal streak of the season. After 92:58 of scoreless Checkers hockey, Charlotte managed to find the back of the net on San Antonio's Spencer Martin. Valentin Zykov redirected a pass from Phil Di Guiseppe at 15:42 to cut the Rampage lead down to one.
Despite the 12 third-period shots, the Checkers failed to register the game-tying goal. Martin finished the game with 33 saves, a victory and the First Star of the Game.
