Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONTARIO - The Hamilton Bulldogs and San Antonio Rampage carried a 1-1 tie into the second period, but three unanswered Rampage (22-21-3-5) goals sunk the 'Dogs (22-23-1-4) in a 4-1 final at FirstOntario Centre on Monday afternoon.

Rampage defenceman Colby Robak got his team on the board first with a big slap shot from the point on the power play at 9:16 of the opening period, assisted by forwards Greg Rallo and Ryan Martindale.

Bulldogs forward Patrick Holland tied the game 1-1 with his fifth goal of the season when he redirected a centring pass from forward Martin St. Pierre past Rampage goaltender Jacob Markstrom with just over a minute to play in the first frame.

San Antonio forward Drew Shore made it 2-1 just 23 seconds into the second period when he batted a rebound out of mid-air and past Hamilton goaltender Robert Mayer. Forwards Bobby Butler and Garrett Wilson drew assists on the play.

Less than two minutes later, Rampage defenceman Dylan Olsen fired a wrist shot through a screen and past Mayer to put San Antonio ahead 3-1. Rallo and forward Quinton Howden earned assists.

Despite out-shooting the Rampage 16-7 in the final frame, the 'Dogs couldn't close the gap before San Antonio forward Vincent Trocheck potted an empty netter to make it a 4-1 game with 1:36 to go. Defenceman John Lee had the only assist on the play.

Mayer made 26 saves on 29 shots in the Bulldogs net in the loss. Markstrom made 30 saves on 31 shots for the Rampage in the win.
