Rally Lifts Frederick To Series Split
April 11, 2010 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release
After leaving 13 runners on base in the game's first seven innings the Keys finally found the big hit in the eighth. With two men on and two outs 2B LJ Hoes doubled off of the wall in right field to give the Keys the lead for good in its 4-1 come from behind win.
The next batter, Joe Mahoney homered down the line in right field to put a swift end to a four-run outburst the Keys had been struggling to find throughout.
Frederick (2-2) began the game by loading the bases with nobody out but failed to score stranding three runners. It would become a trend as they Keys left, ultiple runners aboard in five of the game's first seven innings before the four run rally.
The Keys got a strong start from LHP Cole McCurry who struck out seven batters in four innings in his Carolina League debut. The Frederick bullpen continued to shine as RHP Kenny Moreland (1-0) tossed four scoreless innings before giving way to RHP Sean Gleason who closed the door with a perfect ninth inning for his first save of the year.
The bullpen allowed two runs in 15 innings in the four-game series with Lynchburg.
After an off day, the Keys head home for opening day at Harry Grove Stadium Tuesday, April 13th at 7:00 p.m. against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. RHP Oliver Drake will make his first Carolina League start.
