February 8, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Windsor Express News Release
(HALIFX, NS) A dominating second half by the Halifax Rainmen knocked Windsor back to earth, as the Express are thumped 128-99 on Sunday afternoon at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
Windsor (19-8) was outscored 77-56 in the second half, putting an abrupt end to their six-game winning streak and dropping their road record this season to 6-8.
The win is redemption for the Rainmen (14-12), who fell 95-68 at the "Clash at the Colosseum II" in Windsor last month, helping the Express set a team record for least points given up in a game.
This time around, Halifax delivers Windsor their worst loss of the campaign.
Halifax shot out to an early lead in this one, scoring 11 straight points midway through the first quarter and closing with a 31-19 advantage.
Windsor threw the next punch, pulling to within two points of the Rainmen in the second, winning the quarter 24-20, but trailing 51-43 at the half.
It was the third quarter where the game really became one sided.
Halifax blew the doors open, starting the second half on a 25-11 run and before you knew it, the Express trailed by 23.
They recovered slightly and faced a deficit of 16 points going into the fourth quarter.
But the final frame was no better for Windsor; they were outscored 41-28 and are dealt their first loss on the road in four games.
Quinnel Brown led the team with 17 points, followed closely by Ryan Anderson's 16.
Tony Bennett fouled out with 13 points and a team-high 6 assists in 36 minutes of play.
Kevin Young had a game high 29 points for Halifax, as six Rainmen finished in double figures.
Windsor gets nearly a week off to regroup, before they look to extend their NBL record home winning streak to 14 games, when they host the London Lightning, on Friday, February 13th at 7:00pm at the WFCU Centre.
