June 23, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers used a two-run rally in the eighth inning to secure a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over the Fresno Grizzlies at Cheney Stadium on Sunday.
The Rainiers trailed the Grizzlies 4-3 before Brad Miller drove in Robert Andino with a game-tying sacrifice fly in the eighth. One batter later, Dustin Ackley plated the go-ahead run with an RBI single that scored Abraham Almonte.
Miller originally provided Tacoma an initial 2-0 edge in the first inning after belting a two-run home run - his fifth with the Rainiers this season. The infielder has now hit safely in a team-high 19 consecutive games, batting .380 (30x79) with eight extra-base hits and 26 RBI since May 29.
Fresno stole the lead in the top of third thanks to Gary Brown's two-run home run and Brett Pill's RBI single. Todd Linden added a fourth run for Fresno with a two-out RBI double in the sixth inning.
Right-handed reliever Jonathan Arias earned the win after holding the Grizzlies to one hit over 1.1 scoreless innings beginning in the eighth. Left-hander Brian Moran collected the game's final two outs to rack up his fourth save of the season.
Starter Erasmo Ramirez limited the Grizzlies to four runs, three earned, on five hits over 5.2 innings. The right-hander struck out a season-high 10 batters and issued two walks in his fifth start for the Rainiers this season.
The Rainiers (45-33) host the third game of the team's four-game series with Fresno at 7 p.m. tomorrow, June 24. Right-hander Brandon Maurer (1-1, 2.41) is slated to start for Tacoma against Grizzlies right-hander Fabio Castillo (0-4, 6.55).
