Rain Spares Columbia, Blowfish Win

COLUMBIA, S.C.- The (13-10) Columbia Blowfish hosted the (13-7) Florence Red Wolves Monday night at a soggy Capital City Stadium.

Erik Barber (UCF), jump started the Blowfish scoring early in the second inning off of a colossal homerun to left field.

Blowfish starter David Duncan (Florida A&M), delivered seven stellar shutout innings, giving up no runs, off of four hits, walking two, and striking out five.

In the sixth, Michael Wilson (Francis Marion), singled, followed by Ryan Bull (Notre Dame), who reached on a Florence error. Conner Lewis (Lander), drove them both in off of a single up the middle.

In the eighth, Ryan Bull would be the fourth and final run for the Blowfish, as he scored off of an error by the catcher.

Derrick Smith (College of Charleston), came on in relief in the eighth inning, allowing no runs, off of three hits, no walks, and one strike out. He picked up the save as Duncan will pick up the win, moving him to (1-3) on the season.

The Red Wolves starter Monday was Alex Satterfield (South Carolina), who tossed seven innings, allowing three runs off of six hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.

The Blowfish are now (14-10) on the season and are sitting in third place of the Western Standings.

The Columbia Blowfish will be back in action at home Wednesday night June 26th hosting the Fayetteville Swampdogs. First pitch is set for 7:05pm, gates open at 6pm. It's also "Wet Wednesday!"

The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats.
