
Rain Shortened Game Goes to Savannah

Rome, GA - Heavy rains hit State Mutual Stadium Monday night but not before Savannah took a 5-2 lead into the sixth inning giving them the victory in game one of a three game set in Rome.
The Sand Gnats posted a run in the first inning when Tomas Nido connected for a single into right-center field scoring Wulimer Becerra. The Braves answered with two runs in the second. With the bases loaded Tanner Murphy grounded into a force out allowing Tanner Krietemeier to score and Codey McElroy later scored the second run on a wild pitch by Martires Arias.
The Sand Gnats tied the game in the third on a two out RBI double by Tomas Nido and took the lead in the fifth on a three run double Jon Leroux making it a 5-2 final.
Martires Arias gets the win (1-0) and Chad Sobotka (0-1) the loss.
