Rain Ruins Pitcher's Dual in Final Game vs Black Bears

(Trenton, NJ) - After being outscored 23-5 by the Black Bears over the last two nights, the Thunder turned to Luke Rettig, in hopes of salvaging the third game of the series. While it has been a tough beginning to the second half of the season, the new group in Trenton had their sights set on putting together an impressive performance in front of their home crowd.
It was an old-fashioned pitcher's duel between two southpaws at Trenton Thunder Ballpark. Rettig, the Lehigh product, pitched five scoreless innings, allowed one hit, only one walk, and struck out six. Rettig's command of his fastball and breaking pitches allowed him to effectively navigate through the Black Bears' starting lineup. After Thunder pitching walked nine batters on Saturday, Rettig's control prevented congestion on the base paths.
Brady Tedesco got the ball for the Black Bears, making his first appearance of the season. The lefty, who pitched collegiately at Campbellsville University, put together a very similar outing to Rettig. Tedesco also went five scoreless and struck out six. Unfortunately, this low-scoring affair was cut short due to inclement weather, with the final score being 0-0. While the bats have been dormant of late, your First Half Champion Thunder look to feed off of this encouraging pitching performance as they head to Williamsport for a three-game series.
