Rain Halts Series Finale on Sunday

Savannah, GA - Rain was the undisputed winner on Sunday afternoon at Historic Grayson Stadium. A heavy storm halted the Savannah Sand Gnats' game with the Charleston RiverDogs with Charleston leading 8-3 in the top of the sixth.

The game was suspended and will be resumed Thursday, April 23 in Charleston before the two teams' regularly scheduled game.

The R'Dogs scored seven times in the top of the sixth against starter Josh Prevost and reliever Gaither Bumgardner. Prevost finished five and a third innings and was charged with five runs, all earned on eight hits. He walked one and struck out seven.

The Gnats added a run in the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead. With two outs, CF John Mora stroked a single up the middle to drove home Jonathan Johnson.

The Gnats took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Right fielder Wuilmer Becerra brought home the first run with a clean single into centerfield. The second run scored on a throwing error on Charleston catcher Alvaro Noriega.

Charleston picked up a run back against Prevost on an RBI groundout in the top of the third.

The Sand Gnats will host the Rome Braves tomorrow at 7:05 PM. It will be game one of the three-game series. The Gnats will send RHP Martires Arias (1-0, 3.60) is scheduled to make his second start, while RHP Alec Grosser (0-0, 0.00) will start for Rome. It will be the first Kroger Dollar Monday of the season where $1 General Admission tickets will be available in the Savannah Morning News and online at SavannahNow.com. $1 coupons can also be found at participating Kroger locations.
