Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas - Blake Grant-Parks drove in four runs and the Railroaders came from behind to beat the Lincoln Saltdogs 6-5 on Friday night.
Grant-Parks tied the game at five with an RBI single in the 7th inning after he cleared the bases with a double to open the scoring in the 2nd inning. He now has eight RBI over his last four games.
The Railroaders (11-16) took a one-run lead on a wild pitch that scored Angelo Gumbs in the 8th inning. Gumbs knocked a one-out single and went first-to-third on a single that Levi Scott tucked inside the first-base line.
The Saltdogs (17-11) tied the game in the 5th with back-to-back homers - first, a two-run shot from Angel Reyes followed by solo homer from Christian Ibarra.
Rafael Palmeiro broke the 3-3 tie with his second homer of the year - a one-out solo homer deep down the right-field line.
The Saltdogs took their first lead of the night in the 7th, when Cesar Valera drove in Christian Ibarra to tie the game and Curt Smith knocked an RBI double to make it 5-4.
Cleburne starter Patrick Mincey gave up five runs on 10 hits over 6.2 innings, and Shawn Blackwell worked a 1-2-3 9th inning for his third save of the year. Cortland Cox improved to 3-0 after he struck out three batters to work around a walk and a single in the 8th.
Lincoln starter Tyler Herron gave up five runs over 6.1 innings, and Dimitri Kourtis was tagged with his first loss after giving up the go-ahead run in the 8th.
Scott went 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Palmeiro walked along with his homer. John Menken reached two more times and scored, and Alex Polston also walked and scored.
The teams continue the three-game series on Saturday night at 7:06 p.m. Cleburne will send RHP Patrick Young to the mound and the Lincoln Saltdogs have not yet announced their starting pitcher.
Saturday is also the next in line for the Summer Concert Series. Enjoy a free concert from Benay & Logan on the plaza in front of the home plate gate at the conclusion of the game. Tickets can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
