Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas - The Cleburne Railroaders announced Sunday that the contract of right-handed pitcher Michael Mariot has been transferred to the Cincinnati Reds.
Mariot was virtually untouchable over his three starts with the Railroaders, going 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA. The former Kansas City Royals and Philadelphia Phillies hurler allowed just two runs over 18.0 total innings of work, striking out 17 while issuing only two walks. Mariot was named American Association Pitcher of the Week following his last start in Kansas City, where he blanked the Monarchs over six innings with six strikeouts and one walk.
Mariot becomes the fifth player in Railroaders franchise history to have his contract transferred to a Major League organization, joining right-handed pitchers Cortland Cox (Los Angeles Angels), Steve Pastora (Milwaukee Brewers), Nick Gardewine (Arizona Diamondbacks), and Logan Verrett (Seattle Mariners).
Born in West Hills, California and now residing in Flower Mound, Texas, Mariot made his MLB debut with the Royals on April 11, 2014. Mariot pitched in the majors from 2014-16, owning a 2-0 record with a 5.98 ERA and two saves at the Major League level. The righty pitched in 44 games, all out of the bullpen. He originally signed with the Railroaders on March 29, 2021.
