CARY, NC (Friday, September 3, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks (10-8-7, 37 pts) topped Crystal Palace Baltimore (6-14-6, 24 pts) 3-0 on Friday night. Goals from Daniel Paladini, Allan Russell and newcomer Tom Heinemann were enough to earn the RailHawks a resounding home win.

"It's really nice to get a clean sheet," said RailHawks head coach Martin Rennie. "It wasn't the prettiest game in terms of possession, but we put them under a lot of pressure and came up with a big win."

The RailHawks shook up the lineup on Friday night, with Daniel Woolard making his RailHawks debut, Brad Rusin starting at center back, and Kupono Low making his first start of the season. Carolina controlled much of the play in the first half, as Paladini tallied 3 shots early. Despite the RailHawks' persistent attack, both teams were unable to find the back of the net, heading into the locker room tied 0-0.

Paladini continued his dynamite play for the RailHawks, with a curling shot that found the back of the net in the 47th minute. Matt Watson set up the play by scorching the middle of the field and back heeling to Paladini, who faked the left-footed shot and blasted it with the right. Paladini has now scored a point in four straight games for the RailHawks, putting up 4 goals and 1 assist in that stretch.

Unsatisfied with a 1-0 lead, the RailHawks continued to pressure the Crystal Palace defense. Second half sub Tom Heinemann also made his RailHawks debut and made an immediate impact. Heinemann was hauled down in the box by a Baltimore defender in the 74th minute to earn a penalty kick. Russell converted the penalty kick a minute later to extend the lead to 2-0.

Heinemann capped off the scoring in the 89th minute, tallying his first goal for the RailHawks in his first appearance. Cory Elenio and Floyd Franks combined on the right side and Franks sent in a dangerous ball that Heinemann got his head on. Baltimore goalkeeper Evan Bush got his hand on the ball but it trickled by to put the RailHawks on top 3-0.

"It feels good to be back," said Kupono Low. "The goal was to keep a clean sheet and that's what we did. We didn't want to sit back so we put pressure on them and came away with a win." Low started his first game of the season, after sitting out most of the year due to an injury.

Next, the RailHawks host Pumas Morelos of Mexico on Sunday, September 5 at 6 p.m. Mexican Legend Claudio Suarez is set to play for the RailHawks. Suarez is the most capped international field player ever to play the game. He also played in three World Cups for Mexico, USA '94, France '98 and Germany '06.
