North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, N.C. - The Carolina RailHawks (0-4-3, 4 pts.) will face off against second-place Minnesota Stars FC (2-3-0, 9 pts.) in Minnesota in a rematch of the NASL Champions Challenge that opened the 2012 Season. The first match ended in a scoreless tie with a great performance by Ray Burse that earned the RailHawks goalkeeper Defensive Player of the Week honors. Kickoff will be at 8:30 PM ET and the match will be shown live at www.CarolinaRailHawks.com/Live.

Gale Agbossoumonde will travel with the team for the second time after last week's trip to Canada and will probably play for the first time on Saturday. He was forced to miss the start of the season due to a toe injury. After sustaining an ankle sprain against the San Antonio Scorpions, rookie Austen King will once again be available. Prior to the injury, King had started the first five games of the season.

"Minnesota is a difficult rival. We came away with a tie in our first match and we hope to replicate our defensive effort of that game," said head coach Colin Clarke. "Offensively we must capitalize on the chances we generate and come home with points."

LAST TIME OUT

The RailHawks travelled to Canada to play FC Edmonton last Sunday. After a scoreless first half, Edmonton scored three goals in the second half to win the match 3-0. Just 4 days before, on Wednesday, the RailHawks hosted Fort Lauderdale Strikers and the match ended 3-3 with 5 goals coming in the second half.

The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park on May 19th to face the Puerto Rico Islanders at 7:00 PM ET. Tickets for the match can be purchased online at www.CarolinaRailHawks.com or by calling the Cruizers Box Office at 919-459-8144.

U.S. OPEN CUP

The RailHawks return to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, after a brief hiatus in 2011. The club will enter the tournament in the second round along with other NASL and United Soccer Leagues (3rd division) clubs. On Tuesday, May 22nd, the RailHawks will open the tournament at WakeMed Soccer Park against the winner of the Portland Timbers U-23's and Region IV (USASA) Champion.
