
RailHawks lose to Major League Soccer's Kansas City Wizards 4-2

Cary, NC (Tuesday, July 1st, 2008) - The Carolina RailHawks ended their quest for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on Tuesday night by losing to Major League Soccer's Kansas City Wizards 4-2 in double overtime in the Third Round of the tournament. The RailHawks had the lead for most of the game with two phenomenal goals by Santiago Fusilier and Matthew Watson. Ivan Trujillo scored two goals for the Kansas City side and Claudio Lopez and Ryan Pore scored two penalty kicks to fix the result on 4-2 in favor of the visiting team after 120 minutes of phenomenal soccer. The end of the match also saw the ejection of Chad Dombrowski and Ryan Solle leaving the RailHawks with nine men on the field.
The RailHawks return to USL action on Thursday, July 3rd in the second game of the Independence Day Celebration Doubleheader against the 2007 USL champion Seattle Sounders at 8:00 PM at WakeMed Soccer Park. The RailHawks Women will host the Charlotte Lady Eagles in the first game at 4:00 PM. A spectacular fireworks display will follow the second match and the RailHawks organization is offering a special "4 for $44" ticket package which includes four tickets to both games, four hotdogs and four drinks (a $124 value) for only $44.
