North Carolina FC News Release
Cary, NC (Tuesday, July 1st, 2008) - The United Soccer Leagues announced the Team of the Week for week 11 of the USL-1 Season on Tuesday. Three Carolina RailHawks were among the best eleven for their phenomenal performance against the Portland Timbers last Friday night. Midfielder Martin Nuñez was honored for his tremendous effort that resulted in a beautiful goal scored in the 4th minute of the match. Defender/midfielder Kupono Low was honored for the second straight week for anchoring the defense in the absence of injured RailHawks captain Frankie Sanfilippo. The USL also honored RailHawks goalkeeper Chris McClellan for his exceptional work between the goal posts. McClellan recorded five saves against Portland on Friday bringing his total to a League leading 56 saves.
"Every time one of our players gets on the Team of the Week list it's great," said RailHawks Head Coach Scott Schweitzer. "To have three players on the list is even better and proves that we are getting into our rhythm and starting to get used to each other. We hope to see more in the weeks to come."
