North Carolina FC News Release

Cary, NC (Thursday, July 31, 2008) - The Carolina RailHawks welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday, August 1 at 8:00 p.m. in the second of four nationally televised matches for the Railhawks. The match is presented by the Local Government Federal Credit Union and the first 1,000 fans will receive a mini soccer ball courtesy of LGFCU. The match will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel and fans are encouraged to help paint WakeMed Stadium in RailHawks colors by wearing orange jerseys and T-shirts as the theme of the evening will be "Orange Out". Tickets ($10, $15 and $20) are still available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK (5425), at all Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.

"This will be a very hard game," said Railhawks Head Coach Scott Schweitzer. "Vancouver is on a roll with two wins in a row and we will try to take advantage of their tired legs. It will also be a tight game due the knowledge both teams have of each other having already played two matches in less than a month."

The RailHawks are coming off a road trip that saw them tie in 0-0 in Portland and lose 1-0 in Vancouver. They will look to return the favor on Friday night with midfielder Martin Nuñez, forwards Hamed Diallo and Dan Antoniuk and the newest Team of the Week honor recipient Captain Frankie Sanfilippo who are all expected to start the match.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are hot off two wins that put them on the top of the USL-1 tables tied with the Charleston Battery. They are led by Eduardo Sebrango who already scored seven goals this season. This is the third time the RailHawks and the Whitecaps meet this season and fifth overall with a record of 1-1-2. Last year the RailHawks broke the Whitecaps' sixteen-game winning streak in Vancouver with a beautiful goal by RailHawks forward Connally Edozien.

The Carolina RailHawks travel to Puerto Rico on Sunday August 3 to face the Islanders for the third time this season. The match can be seen on www.USLLive.com. The RailHawks return home to host the Montreal Impact on Friday August 8 at 7:30 PM. Tickets for this match and all Carolina RailHawks events are available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK (5425), at all Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
