
RailHawks Hold off Rhinos with 3-3- tie in stoppage time

Cary, NC (Friday, June 20th, 2008) - The Carolina Railhawks (3-3-5) tied the Rochester Rhinos(2-4-5) at PAETEC Park 3-3 on Friday night with a stoppage time equalizer by Caleb Norkus in the 90th minute in a match full of excitement and energy. The RailHawks were down a man for the whole match when Frankie Sanfilippo was ejected on a last man tackle in the box. Rochester forward Mauricio Salles scored the Penalty kick in the 4th minute putting the Rhinos up 1-0. The RailHawks bounced back immediately as midfielders Santiago Fusilier (17th) and Matt Watson (37th) tallied one goal each giving the RailHawks a temporary 2-1 lead. Rochester defender Scott Palguta scored the tying goal for the Rhinos in the 42nd minute bringing the score to 2-2 at the half. In the second half a controversial call on the goal line in the 55th minute gave the Rhinos the temporary 3-2 lead but the RailHawks continued to attack looking for the equalizer which finally arrived in stoppage time when Caleb Norkus headed a ball in the back of the net from a cross by Kupono Low fixing the score at 3-3.
The RailHawks continue their road trip in Montreal on Sunday June 22nd at the new Saputo Stadium. All road matches can be viewed live and on demand on the USL's broadband channel www.USLLive.com. The RailHawks will return home for the second round of the US Open Cup on Tuesday, June 24th against the Real Maryland Monarchs of USL-2. The next regular season home game for the Carolina RailHawks will be on Friday, June 27th as the RailHawks host the Portland Timbers at WakeMed Soccer Park at 8:00 PM and the RailHawks Women host the Hampton Roads Piranhas on Saturday June 28th at 7:30 PM.
