North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, N.C. (Tuesday, May 25, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks (1-2-2, 5 pts.) are in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, where they will face the Puerto Rico Islanders (2-1-0, 6 pts.) on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on the internet and RailHawks fans can watch it on the Islanders site at www.prislandersfc.com.
"We are looking forward to the game," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie. "We've had a long break and it will be good to get on with the season. We played well the last couple of games and we are going to keep building on that."
Puerto Rico has only played three regular season games so far due to their Caribbean Football Union obligations. They clinched the 2010 CFU title and have earned a spot in the CONCACAF Champions League preliminary round. They are led by veteran forward Josh Hansen, who already scored two goals for the Islanders this season and by midfielder Sandi Gbandi who has one goal and one assist.
The RailHawks are looking for their first win at Ramon Loubriel stadium to begin their road trip on a good note. They are 1-6-1 all-time against the Islanders and defeated them 2-1 at WakeMed Soccer Park at the end of last season.
"We need to start putting a full game together," said RailHawks defender David Hayes. "We need to stay consistent for 90 minutes and we will be able to bring back a positive result."
The RailHawks continue their road trip on Sunday, May 30 in Montreal where they face the Impact before continuing on to Portland and Vancouver on June 6 and 9. Their next regular season home game will be on Saturday, June 19 at 7 p.m. when they host Crystal Palace Baltimore. It will be Bark in the Park Night and fans will also not want to miss the Father's Day celebrations the RailHawks are planning. Tickets for this and all RailHawks home games can be purchased at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-5425 or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
