RailHawks announce pre-season exhibition games
March 21, 2007 - USL First Division (USL-1)
North Carolina FC News Release
The Carolina RailHawks today announced their exhibition matches for the 2007 Inaugural Season. The games will give head coach Scott Schweitzer the opportunity to finalize his roster for the season and give the RailHawks match experience heading into their first season in existence as a franchise.
"The exhibition games are a good opportunity for the fans to see our players on the field and get to know them off the field," said Chris Economides, President and GM of the Carolina RailHawks. "With the quality of soccer in North Carolina with the ACC teams that make their home here as well as the USL 2nd Division franchises in Wilmington and Charlotte, we feel that these opponents will offer great competition for our players so we can see them in actual match situations."
The exhibition season includes three games to be held at SAS Soccer Park and one to be held at Duke University's Koskinen Stadium. All exhibition games at SAS Soccer Park will be free of charge to the public. Fans will have the opportunity to see the RailHawks in action before their Inaugural game on April 21st at 7:30 pm against the Minnesota Thunder.
UNC, Wake Forest and Duke, three stalwarts in ACC soccer, will be opponents of the RailHawks this spring, with the United Soccer League's 2nd Division club Charlotte Eagles rounding out the schedule.
