College Week Tryouts This Week

March 21, 2007 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Seattle Sounders News Release

This week is the Seattle Sounders final round of tryouts for the 2007 season. Players from colleges around the country along with a handful of players with professional experience have been invited to Seattle for a week of training with the Sounders coaching staff.

Among those trying to make the team this week are Sounders first round draft pick from University of Washington, Matt Fisher and Portland Timbers first round draft pick Colin Rigby from Seattle Pacific University.

Sounders new newly signed midfielder Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar's brother Ricardo Alcaraz is in camp along with the brother of Chivas USA defender Sasha Kjletsen, Gordon Kjletsen, who has most recently played with the Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer.

Former Feyenoord (Dutch First Division) trialist and member of the 2004 Honolulu Bulls U-19 National Champion team, Kenji Treschuk braved the rain of the first day. Alexis Reve, former Cuban International Goal Keeper, also survived the weather to put his best foot forward for the Sounders. Reve was invited for this week's training after a recommendation from his friend and former Sounder Maykel Galindo.

Arturo Brambila and Eduardo Souza were both invited back from the open tryouts that have taken place over the last month. They, along with returning players from the earlier invitational training such as Sebastian Le Toux, will have through Saturday to impress the Sounders coaches enough to earn a roster spot.

The Sounder preseason kicks off on March 31 at Starfire Sports complex with a match against the Gonzaga University Bulldogs. Tickets are $10 at the gate, $5 for Sounders season ticket holders and members of Starfire Sports.
