November 27, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Brampton Beast News Release
BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - Ryan Scarfo scored his first goal as a member of the Beast but Brampton would fall in overtime by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
For the second time in three days, the Brampton Beast took on the Worcester Railers live from the CAA Centre.
This was no ordinary game, as the Beast hosted 5000 kids from schools all over the Peel Region for the first of four School Days games.
Ryan Scarfo got the building rocking with his first goal as a member of the Beast. The American-born forward sent a shot high over the shoulder of Mitch Gilliam to give the Beast a 1-0 lead at 4:59 of the first.
Scarfo had an eventful period, as he also recorded a fight against Worcester's Tyler Mueller.
Brampton would head to their dressing room ahead by a score of 1-0 but trailing in shots by a count of 12-12.
The Railers were able to even up the score in the second courtesy of Matthew Gaudreau. The slick forward sent the puck past the pads of Marcus Hogberg to tie the game 1-1 at the 3:50 mark.
Brampton would pour on the pressure, but there wouldn't be any more goals in the second. Both teams took a 1-1 tie into their respective locker rooms with the Railers leading in shots by a slim margin of 21-20.
The third period wouldn't see much goal scoring action, so both clubs would take a 1-1 tie into the overtime period.
Speedy forward Dylan Willick would dart into the zone and send a shot that would ping off the post and roll behind Beast goaltender Hogberg. The forward then followed the play and was able to bang home the rebound for the 2-1 overtime win.
Hogberg finished the game with 29 saves. Gilliam, who recorded the win, finished with 37.
Notes: Molson Three Stars 3) Scarfo (BRA) 2) Gilliam (WOR) 1) Willick (WOR) The Beast and Railers went a combined zero-for-four on the man advantage. Brampton's next two games will see them visit Newfoundland to take on their Canadian rivals, the Growlers. Saturday and Sunday coming are big game days for the Beast.
