Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
LINCOLN, NE - The Gary South Shore RailCats won their first road game of the season 9-4 over the Lincoln Saltdogs on Tuesday night at Haymarket Park.
Facing knuckleballer Zach Staniewicz (0-1) the RailCats offense turned a 1-0 Saltdog advantage into a 4-1 RailCats lead in the third. With two outs Jon Jones singled and was followed by a walk by Zac Mitchell. Drew Martinez then singled just over short on a slow ball away to bring home Jones and the Cats had tied it at one. Staniewicz then hit JD Pulfer to load the bases. Adam Taylor then stepped up and hit a bases clearing single to right and the RailCats lead it 4-1.
Charle Rosario, who was signed earlier Tuesday made his RailCats debut working 5.1 IP and giving up 4ER while adding five strike outs. Lincoln got a two run homer by Jon Gaston off of Rosario in the third to make it 4-3. The RailCats added a bases clearing triple by Drew Martinez in the fifth and never looked back in the win.
The RailCat bullpen helped to erase any chance of a Saltdogs come back by working 3.1 IP of scoreless relief. AJ Quintero worked two innings retiring all six batters he faced in the win. The two teams will play game three Wednesday at Haymarket Park with game time at 6:35 pm. The game can be heard on 95.9 WEFM and online at RailCatsbaseball.com. The RailCats return home Friday night in a 7:10pm matchup against the Kansas City T-Bones at US Steel Yard.
