St. Paul Saints News Release

AMARILLO, TX (May 27, 2015) - From the first batter of the game the St. Paul Saints were determined to leave little doubt about Wednesday night's game. Taking advantage of six errors, pounding out 12 hits and getting a dominate start from Dustin Crenshaw the Saints beat up on the Amarillo Thunderheads 10-1 at Potter County Memorial Stadium.

Alonzo Harris led off the game with a double and Sam Maus knocked him home with a single to give the Saints a 1-0 lead just two hitters into the game. Willie Argo reached on an error by third baseman Taylor Smart, the first of six on the night for the Thunderheads. Ian Gac made it 2-0 with an RBI single. Three batters later Joey Paciorek made it 3-0 with an RBI single.

The Saints wasted little time doubling up their run output tacking on three more in the second. With one out Harris reached when third baseman Smart's throw pulled Rene Leveret off the bag at first. Maus reached on a fielding error by Smart to put runners at first and second. Argo then singled to center allowing Harris to score. The ball was misplayed by the center fielder Jason Martin which allowed Maus to score and Argo to go to third, giving the Saints a 5-0 lead. Ian Gac's RBI ground out made it 6-0.

That was more than enough for Saints starter Crenshaw. He retired the side in order in four of the seven innings he worked. The lone blip on his night came in the second when Martin singled, stole second and Juan Martinez singled him home. Crenshaw's finest inning was his last. With one out he gave up back-to-back singles to Rene Leveret and Martin. With two outs Logan Vick singled to load the bases. Perhaps facing his final hitter of the night, Crenshaw struck out Corey Bass to end the inning. Crenshaw went 7.0 innings allowing one run on six hits while striking out four.

Every Saints hitter collected at least one hit and the top three guys in the order scored seven of the 10 runs. Maus went 3-6 with three RBI and two runs scored while Harris was 2-6 with a double, stolen base and three runs scored.

The same two teams meet in the finale of the three game series on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. The Saints send LHP Kramer Sneed (1-0, 1.50) to the mound against Thunderheads RHP Billy Petrick (0-1, 6.75). The game can be heard on Club 1220 KLBB.
