RailCats Add Muren and Palensky

GARY, IN - The Gary South Shore RailCats have signed OF Drew Muren and INF Caleb Palensky and will be in the lineup in the opening game of the three game series with Lincoln. To make room for Muren and Palensky the club placed OF Adam Taylor on irrevocable waivers and placed RHP Coleman Stephens on the DL retroactive to June 16th.

Muren was selected by the Houston Astros in the 22nd round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal State Northridge. Muren hit .290 for his three year college career and stole 24 bases. Muren reached AA with the Astros organization hitting .253 with the Corpus Christi Hooks. Muren began 2014 with the Sioux Falls Canaries in the American Association hitting .192 in 19 games with a homer and six RBI.

Palensky is a rookie out of Nebraska-Omaha where he hit .305 in 2014 in 51 games with 40 RBI. The Papillion, Nebraska native hit seven homeruns and drove in 86 runs in three seasons in Omaha. Palensky attended the same high school (La Vista South) that RailCats pitcher Stephen Bougher attended.

Taylor a rookie from Laurens, South Carolina hit .180 in 19 games with three RBI for Gary. Stephens has a 1-1 record and a 5.19 ERA for the RailCats this season.

The RailCats play the Lincoln Saltdogs Friday May 20th in the opening game of a three game series with the game broadcast on WEFM and online at RAILCATSBASEBALL.COM.
